Rainbow Lighthouse
Uganda

Who we are

Care rooted in community.

Rainbow Lighthouse Uganda is a community-led organisation advancing safety, dignity and opportunity for LGBTQ+ people affected by violence, displacement and exclusion.

Our purpose

We help people move from immediate risk toward lasting stability.

Our work brings together emergency assistance, trusted referrals, education support, livelihoods and advocacy. We listen first, respond to the priorities people identify, and protect confidentiality throughout the process.

We recognise that no single service solves every challenge. That is why we collaborate with affirming professionals and community networks while sharing only the information needed to provide support.

Our mission

To protect, empower and advocate alongside LGBTQ+ people through practical services, community care and systemic change.

Our vision

A society where every LGBTQ+ person can live safely, openly and with equal opportunity.

Our principles

How we show up

01

Safety first

We minimise data collection, assess risk and never publish identifying stories without informed permission.

02

Led by lived experience

Community knowledge informs our priorities, programme design and understanding of what meaningful support looks like.

03

Dignity and choice

People remain active decision-makers in their own lives. We offer options without coercion, judgement or fees.

Leadership

Accountable, people-centred leadership

Marvin Ahebwa, Director
