Frequently asked questions

Clear answers about support, privacy, grants and donations.

Is contacting Rainbow Lighthouse Uganda confidential?

We aim to limit access to authorised team members and collect only information needed to respond. Website forms use a third-party processor, so read our Privacy Policy before submitting sensitive information.

Is this an emergency service?

No. Messages and forms are not monitored continuously. If you are in immediate danger, move to a safer place if possible and contact a trusted person or an appropriate local emergency service.

Who can apply for the Emergency Support Grant?

The 2026 grant is open from 14 June to 30 August for individual LGBTQ+ adults currently in Uganda who face a genuine and urgent barrier to safety or stability. Approved support may be up to US$7,000, based on verified need and available funding.

Does applying guarantee funding?

No. Funding is limited, and submitting an application does not guarantee an award. There is no application fee, and no one should ask you to pay for approval.

What information should I avoid sharing?

Do not submit passwords, PINs, exact shelter locations, unnecessary identity documents, or names and details of other at-risk people.

Can I use a chosen name?

Yes. A legal name is not required on the initial contact or grant application form.

How can I donate?

Visit the Donate page for current giving options. Verify the destination and organisation contact details before transferring funds.

How can I report a concern?

Use the Report page or contact us directly. Share only the information needed and avoid details that could increase risk to you or someone else.
